Privacy

In short: we collect as little as possible, and we sell none of it.

Our principle

Codiry does not make money by passing on customer data. We only ever collect and store as little data as the technical implementation of our apps and their features requires.

Our apps always prefer to keep data on the user's own device. Where internet services are necessary, we rely on the secure server network of Apple Inc. ("iCloud").

This website

This website is deliberately plain. It sets no cookies, embeds no analytics or advertising services and loads no fonts, maps or scripts from third parties. There are no contact forms; contact is by email only.

Your language choice and your light or dark appearance setting are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) only. This information never leaves your device and is not read by us.

When you request the website, your browser transmits technically necessary data to the server (including IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, browser and operating system identifier). These server log files are processed to deliver the page and to defend against attacks, and are deleted after seven days at the latest. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website). This data is not merged with other data.

Data in our apps

Which data an app processes depends on what it does. One rule always applies: data stays on the device wherever possible.

Storage in iCloud

Some of our apps can be used across iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. So that progress matches on every device, the information required for this has to be exchanged via iCloud. This is limited to what synchronisation actually needs, for example:

  • the date the app was last used
  • learning or usage progress within the app

This data resides in the user's own iCloud and is visible only to them. We have no access to it. It can be deleted at any time via the device's iCloud settings.

Purchases and subscriptions

Where an app offers paid content or a subscription, the purchase is handled through Apple's App Store. To check whether a purchase or subscription is active, we may use the service RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA). An anonymous identifier is processed in the course of this; neither we nor RevenueCat receive payment data, which stays with Apple. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of a contract).

Apps that collect nothing

Some of our apps — including Shapes — require neither an account nor an internet connection and collect no usage data whatsoever.

Data in support cases

If you contact our support, further data may need to be collected and is stored locally at Codiry for up to 24 months. This can include:

  • name
  • email address
  • the content of the correspondence
  • the app's installation date
  • usage-related details needed to resolve the enquiry

This data is stored solely to ensure that customers receive the service they were promised. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR.

You may at any time request the immediate deletion of data collected in the course of a support case by writing to support@codiry.com, and you will receive a confirmation once this has been done.

Disclosure to third parties

Your data is not passed on to third parties — unless this is technically necessary to provide the service (see Apple and RevenueCat above) or we are legally obliged to do so. We do not sell data or evaluate it for advertising purposes.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights:

  • access to the data stored about you (Art. 15)
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16)
  • erasure (Art. 17)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18)
  • data portability (Art. 20)
  • objection to processing (Art. 21)

An informal email to support@codiry.com is enough. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

We update this privacy policy when our apps or the legal requirements change. The version published on this page is the one that applies.
