Read aloud by real people
Every text was recorded by a person, not a synthetic voice. Children can explore the whole city before they can read — and when reading is difficult too.
A city full of jobs.
„Wenn ich groß bin“ — German for „when I grow up“. An illustrated city where children find the answer themselves, with every text read aloud by real people.

No synthetic voice, no text-to-speech: all seventy-five jobs, every place and every sentence Fips says were recorded by real people — calm, clear and at a normal pace.
Hello, my name is Fips Hörnchen. Welcome to Job Town. Come along with me and hear what all the people here do for work. Perhaps there is something you would enjoy doing one day too.
Fips greets every child and explains the city. After that you can visit him in his treehouse whenever you like. His voice, like every other one, belongs to a real person. He never interrupts and never pushes: he is simply there when you want him.
From the beach hotel to the fire station to the art school: fifteen places, connected by roads, a river and a coastline. The map opens with the whole city in view and then moves in on one quarter — once you have seen all of it, you know there is more beside you.
Cars drive between the houses, boats lie in the harbour, trees line the roads. There is nothing to win and nothing to miss. You push the city back and forth until a building makes you curious.
The beach hotel, the fire station and the farm are there from the start — fifteen jobs without spending anything. Anyone who wants to discover more unlocks one of the two packs, or both.

We will announce prices when the app arrives on the App Store. What is already settled: no advertising and no subscription. A pack is bought once and stays unlocked for good.
Behind every job is somebody who talks about it — in the first person, in sentences a child understands. Not a list of duties, but a person describing what their day looks like and what they enjoy about it.

Vet · Farm
I am a vet and I help animals when they are ill or have hurt themselves. On a farm I might examine a calf that does not want to drink. I listen to its heart, give medicine and explain to the farmers what could help. Some animals are frightened, so I approach them slowly and kindly. It is a lovely feeling when an animal runs across the meadow healthy again.
Every job is exactly one text and one button. No paging onward, no choice to make before anyone starts talking.

From the hospital to the workshop to the theatre. Every building opens up and shows who works inside.
Behind every job is somebody telling you about it. That sticks far better than a list of duties.
Whatever has already been discovered is there again on the iPad, through your own iCloud.
No ads, no links leading outside, no messages from strangers. Nothing that takes you out of the app.

It asks no aptitude questions, builds no profile and makes no recommendation about what might suit your child. There are no points, no stars and no competition — not even with yourself. We think it is too early to pin children down, and exactly right to show them how much is out there.
